Serious Injuries in Head-on Collision on Metacom

Bristol Police and Fire officials responded to a three-car crash on Rt. 136.

Late afternoon on Monday, Dec. 20, police and fire officials responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries on Metacom Avenue near the Woodlawn Avenue intersection.

A black vehicle driving northbound on Rt. 136 crossed over the center line and collided head on with a silver van in the opposite lane of traffic and the third vehicle, a silver Corolla, crashed into the back of van. At the scene, debris from the three vehicles was scattered along the road.

The identities of the three vehicle occupants have not yet been released, nor has the cause of the accident. Police stated that the incident is under investigation at this time and more information will be made available on Tuesday morning.

Shortly after the crash, the driver of the Corolla appeared uninjured and gave police a statement. One person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police were on the scene securing the vehicles, taking photographs and measurements in case the accident must be recreated for an investigation.
