The Hammers Take Hopeworth Bocce League Champion Title
The Hopeworth Community Association Bocce League held their final playoffs on Saturday evening.

Saturday evening more than 100 bocce players, friends and relatives converged on the Hopeworth bocce court in Bristol for the league's final playoff.
Of the 20 teams that started with the Hopeworth Community Association Bocce League in June, two remained to battle it out in the playoffs on Saturday. The two teams in the finals were One N Done and The Hammers. After three intense games, The Hammers edged out One N Done in two out of three games. The third game tied at 10 to 10 before the winning shot by Jim Calenda of The Hammers.
Mark Fischer, the commissioner of the Hopeworth Community Association Bocce League, said that the 2011 season is the most competitive season the group has had. The winning team was made up by Artie Almeida, Jim Finn, Jim Calenda, George Garvin, George Carinha and Joe Duarte.

Fischer also announced the winners of the league awards. The Joseph Cabral Memorial Award for most improved player was awarded to Jim Calenda of The Hammers and the Richard Bisbano Memorial Award for league MVP was awarded to Frank Francis of Balzano’s Paisanos.
