View Finder: All Bands Concert Rock RWU!

A few hundred friends, fans and family packed Roger Williams University Wednesday night to support Bristol-Warren Band musicians.

The Bristol Warren Performing Arts Department presented its annual All-Bands Concert featuring more than 300 band members from and .

Mr. Robert Arsenault, Mt. Hope High School Combined Concert and Symphonic Bands Director, acted as Master of Ceremonies for the festivities. Welcoming the crowd and thanking the school district administration for their support, he exclaimed how thrilled he was that the administration encouraged the program to grow.

Melinda Theis, Superintendant of schools, remarked on the "marvelous support" families  have given to the band program members, adding, "this is what we do, we do this for the kids."

Theis, "always impressed by the progression of the quality of the music from the 6th graders to the high school band," was also impressed by the community gathering of districts, students, teachers and families all coming together. She was, "uplifted to hear this beautiful musicianship from these great kids."

The concert opened with the Kickemuit Middle School Bands led by the 6th graders performing “Starfire March”  and “Refried Beans”,  Conducted by Mr. Jeff Beckett.

The 7th grade band followed, conducted by Ms. Melissa Labonte, perfoming “Furioso” and “Pageantry for Band”, with the 8th graders finishing up with “Jefferson County Overture” and “Mallet Maniacs”.

The Mt. Hope High School Marching Band featured the Flag Squad and the Dance Squad performing “Claire’s Song” and “Eye of the Tiger” directed by drum majors Richard Pavao.  

The combined Concert and Symphonic Bands presented “Among the Clouds” and “Disney at the Movies” in preparation of their upcoming trip to perform in Disney World on April 14.

The evening finished off with an all bands rendition of "American Spirit March."
