WARREN, RI — A fire on Saturday destroyed a barn in Warren and killed about 100 farm animals, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said around 11:30 p.m., three fire engines and a ladder truck were called to the Barton Avenue farm and found the barn in flames. Crews had to request three additional fire engines and a tanker, because of a lack of hydrants in the area, officials said.

Fire officials said they were able to evacuate most of the livestock in the barn. Still, the farm's owners told WPRI 12 six cows and about 100 ducks and chickens died.
