Warren Police Nab Two People Wanted on Warrants

A 17-year-old Barrington resident was arrested on Monday, Dec. 13 for possession of Marijuana.

At 12:07 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, officials reportedly stopped a vehicle on Metacom Avenue for a motor vehicle infraction. The two occupants reportedly identified themselves by name and date of birth. Upon further investigation, police reportedly realized that the information provided was false and both parties, under their true identities, were wanted on various warrants. Sara Lopes, 29, of East Providence, was wanted by the Bristol Police Department on charges of cruelty or neglect to children. Wilfred Dennis, 35, also from East Providence, was wanted on one District Court bench warrant and one family court warrant. 

Lopes and Dennis were arrested for obstructing justice for providing the officer with false information. Lopes was arraigned and turned over to the Bristol Police Department. Dennis was transported to District Court where he was reportedly arraigned and pled no-lo to the obstructing justice charge. Dennis was then turned over to family court. Dennis received 45 days to serve at the ACI and 320 days of suspended sentence probation for obstructing justice. 

Police reportedly received three complaints of a man going up to vehicles asking people for money on Water Street and Main Street on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 9:14 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 12:48 a.m. and 1:37 a.m. According to police, the male party was advised to call it a night after he approached the police cruiser asking for money at 1:37 a.m.
