Warren Resident: 'I Am Not Going to Be Quiet' About Town's Sidewalk Issues

The Town Council will again hear from resident David Silvia at Tuesday's meeting.

Frustrations with Warren's snow-covered sidewalks will be brought to light again at tonight's Town Council meeting. Warren resident David Silvia will address the Council in hopes of moving forward with enforcing the current town ordinance that requires property owners to clear their sidewalks or possibly creating a new town ordinance.

Silvia, who presented his frustrations with the at the January meeting, claims that he has tried numerous times to reach out to the Council and the Town Manager, but says that his cries for help have fallen on deaf ears.

Despite a lack of response, Silvia claims that he will not give up the fight in getting the sidewalks clear. In an e-mail addressed to two Council members, the Town Planner and the Town Manager's secretary, Silvia wrote, "I addressed an email to Davison and Scott and no reply!Ā The town manger ignores me too, I would hope that there are some actions taken because I am not going to be quiet about this."

According to Silvia, the inaccessible sidewalks force him to travel in the road, making him take his life into his own hands. He claims that since the last Council meeting, there was another person in a wheelchair that was hit by a vehicle. In the same e-mail he writes, "what do you think was the reason, maybe the sidewalks were covered in snow and ice and that person had no choice but to be in the street, taking his/her life into the hands of God."

Silvia's concerns are part of tonight's Town CouncilĀ agenda.
