This week's Bristol-Warren Whiz Kid is Lyn Kotuby.
Age: 15
School: Homeschool
Accomplishment: Lyn is a stellar jazz-rock guitar player
Key to Awesomeness: One may think that getting involved in music groups would be difficult for a home-schooled student. But According to Lyn's mother, Celeste, through the kindness of Mr. Bob Arsenault (one of the music teachers at Mt. Hope High School) Lyn has been able to be a part of their Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo and Pit Orchestra. Lyn also plays with a Jazz Combo at the RI Philharmonic Music School, and last year Lyn was selected for the title of All State Jazz Guitar. Lyn was also awarded the Judges' Choice Award for her three guitar performances at the Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival. In addition to her love for the guitar, Lyn also holds a black belt in American karate, maintains a 3.5 grade point average and plays in four jazz ensembles, as well as playing bass, flute, drums and the harmonica.
