Whiz Kid: Mt. Hope High School Debate Team Wins 4th Place in State

This week's Bristol-Warren Whiz Kid is actually a group of students in the Debate Team at Mt. Hope High School.

This week's Bristol-Warren Whiz Kids are the students involved in the Debate Team.

School: Mt. Hope
Accomplishment: Out of all the schools competing in the Rhode Island Forensics League, the Mt. Hope Debate Team finished in 4th place for the year.
Key to Awesomeness: The Mt. Hope Debate Team wrapped up their third season a few weeks ago at Providence College. Though they did not take home the state championship, the team did very well in both the Novice and Varsity debates for the State Championship, placing their highest yet in the tournament since Mt. Hope joined the league. Novices (out of 34 teams competing) were fourth place winners Danielle Gonsalves and Alexis Fowler. In the varsity bracket (out of 45 teams competing) Sophia Andreadis and Audra Morrow were awarded fifth place trophies.

"Considering we are about 1/3 the team of Barrington and Cumberland's teams, we have done quite well for ourselves!" said Geoff Keegan, Debate Team Advisor at Mt. Hope High School.
