AAA: Gas Prices Down 2 Cents from Last Week

Prices are 10 cents higher than they were in April.

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down 2 cents from last week, according to AAA Southern New England.

In its May 12 survey of prices in the state, AAA found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.70 per gallon, down 2 cents from last week. Prices locally are 10 cents higher than they were a month ago.

The current price is 5 cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.65. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was 15 cents lower at $3.55.

The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 31 cents, from a low of $3.53 to a high of $3.84.

  • Regular Unleaded: $3.709 ($3.539-$3.849)  
  • Midgrade Unleaded: $3.929 ($3.859-$4.009)  
  • Premium Unleaded: $4.019 ($3.899-$4.139)
  • Diesel: $4.049 ($3.899-$4.309)
