AAA: Rhode Island Gas Prices Down Four Cents

The average price was 21 cents higher this time last year.

Rhode Island gasoline prices are down four cents from last week, according to AAA Southern New England.

In its August 18 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.54 per gallon, down four cents from last week. Prices locally are 14 cents lower than a month ago. The current price is nine cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.45. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was 21 cents higher at $3.75.

The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 35 cents, from a low of $3.42 to a high of $3.77. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up- every trip, every time.

Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows:

  • Regular Unleaded: $3.54 ($3.42-$3.77)
  • Midgrade Unleaded: $3.78 ($3.63-$3.93)
  • Premium Unleaded: $3.90 ($3.79-$4.12)
  • Diesel: $3.88 ($3.75-$4.05)
