All Fire Districts Respond to Coventry Brush Fire
It has been extremely dry, which made fighting the fire about 1,000 feet into the woods off Industrial Drive difficult for Coventry crews.

On a hot late-summer Wednesday afternoon, Central Coventry Firefighters were joined by firefighters from around the area to battle a stubborn brush fire about 1,000 feet into the woods off Industrial Drive.
Crews were dispatched at around 3:30 p.m. and the fire was located near the river.
All of the other fire districts in Coventry joined to fight the fire and crews from West Warwick, Mishnoock, East Greenwich and other departments provided mutual aid.

The fire is under investigation.
“A reminder to please be careful in the woods with fire. We have had an extensive period of no rain which will make for a very dry fall. This could result in brush fires spreading quickly,” the Central Coventry Fire District said in a post on their Facebook page.
Because the fire used up all of the town’s firefighters, along with the need for additional support at the scene from mutual aid partners, crews from around the state were extremely busy for several hours. During the blaze, engines and rescues from Scituate, Potterville, East Greenwich, and West Warwick were scurrying between Coventry stations to ensure coverage and responded to unrelated emergency runs in the town that were occurring simultaneously.
