American Red Cross Helping to Connect Families in Wake of Typhoon Haiyan
Organization is helping to find information on missing loved ones.

In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, the American Red Cross is assisting family members concerned for their loved ones impacted by the tragic events in the Philippines over the weekend.
The Red Cross is accepting inquiries for relatives looking for information on missing family members following the massive storm that officials say may have killed as many as 10,000 people and left others without food, water, transportation or communication in the devastation that followed.

“We want to share this information because we know many people have been moved by the scale of this disaster,” said American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter Executive Director Paula Montgomery. “Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines and with those who have loved ones there.”
According to the Red Cross, inquiries will be accepted if they meet the following criteria:

Sought persons living in the affected areas who were in regular contact with their relatives in the United States during the past 12 months prior to the disaster.
- For family members who are not U.S. citizens.
Donations may be made by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, visiting www.redcross.org, or sending a check to the American Red Cross. If sending a check, designate Philippines Typhoons and Flood in the memo line. For more information, contact the local Red Cross chapter at 401-831-7700.
