COVENTRY, RI — A Pawtucket man was charged with a stabbing on the Coventry Greenway, police said.
Daniel Vacca, 33, was arrested on charges of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and assault on persons 60 years of age or older causing bodily injury, the Coventry Police Department said in a media release.

Vacca was arrested by officers sent to the greenway in the area behind Coventry Town Hall shortly before 6:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a stabbing, according to the release
"Responding officers immediately rendered medical aid to an adult male victim, while other officers located and detained (Vacca), who remained at the scene," the release said.

"During the incident, (Vacca) also allegedly assaulted an adult female," according to the release.
The stabbed man suffered a puncture wound to his back, according to the release. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where he was in serious condition.

"The adult female victim was also treated for injuries sustained during the incident," the release said.
Police "determined the incident stemmed from a brief argument between the two male parties and was an isolated incident, according to the release.

Vacca received treatment for minor injuries at Kent Hospital in Warwick and held overnight at Coventry Police Headquarters, the release said
Vacca was arraigned Thursday morning and his bail was set at $25,000 with surety, according to the release.
