Fire Marshal Investigating Coventry Barn Fire As Possible Arson
The state fire marshal is investigating a barn fire on South Main Street on Wednesday evening.
COVENTRY, RI — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire in a Coventry barn on Wednesday evening. Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is encouraged to contact the Arson Watch Reward Program.
According to Coventry police, the blaze broke out around 6:15 p.m. in the 200 block of South Main Street. When firefighters arrived on scene, the barn was engulfed in flames. Photos taken at the scene show thick smoke pouring out of the barn. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
The Office of the Rhode Island State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident. Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is encouraged to contact the Arson Watch Reward Program at 401-383-7723.
