Updated: Attempted Robbery in Coventry: Suspect Shows Silver Gun in Wal-Mart Parking Lot
Police need help finding a suspect who tried to rob a woman at gun point early Tuesday.

COVENTRY, RI — A man with a silver gun tried to rob a woman early this morning in A Wal-Mart parking lot. Coventry Police responded to 650 Center of New England Blvd. at approximately 05:38 a.m, Tuesday.
Officers spoke with the victim who stated that she had parked her vehicle and was walking into the store when she was approached by a white male operating a red colored Ford Ranger pick-up truck, police said. He allegedly showed a silver colored handgun and told her to hand over her purse.
She refused and walked into the store. He drove away.

"Information was later developed that the suspect had actually entered the Wal-Mart store
before this incident at about 4:40 a.m., and had shoplifted the BB gun pistol from the
sporting goods department that was later used in the incident, police allege.
