Board Members Appointed; Service Contracts Awarded at Council Meeting
Council received exact number of applications needed to fill openings.
The Council approved tax abatements and additions for the month of August, 2011 on Monday night, in which nearly $10,000 in understated taxes, errors, exemptions and additions was found above the town's overall projection.
Service Contracts
- The Council awarded a contract for catch basin cleaning to Lloyd Traux Inc., at a cost of $12.40 per basin or $135 per hour in the case of an emergency.
- An contract for the installation of Dual Beacon Solar School Zone Flashers on Johnson Blvd. at Hopkins Hill School was awarded to Rossi Electric at a cost of $10,240. The town's initial plan was to move the flashers previously used where the Town Hall Annex now exists (the original Washington Oak Elementary School), to Hopkins Hill but found them to be deteriorated and unusable.
- A $257,644 contract was awarded to Cardi Corporation for repairs on various roads damaged by the 2010 flooding and selective pavement restoration at several town locations including; Read School House Rd., Yates Ave., Sandlewood Ct., Red Oak Dr., Greenhouse Rd., Rock Hill Rd., Reservoir Rd., Clubhouse Rd. and White Oak Ct.

- Helen Quinn was appointed to the Coventry Land Trust with a contract expiring November 22, 2011.
- Frank Hyde was appointed to the Coventry Redevelopment Agency with a contract expiring October 22, 2016.
- Milton Baxter was appointed to the Coventry Redevelopment Agency with a contract expiring October 22, 2015.
- Brian Manning was appointed to the Pawtuxet River Authority with a contract expiring June 1, 2014.
- Richard Proulx Jr. was appointed to the Pawtuxet River Authority with a contract expiring June 1, 2012.
Town Employee Recognition
Town Council President Gary Cote recognized Christopher Pucino, who served as Assistant Town Solicitor until he recently resigned after he was accepted to the FBI Academy.
