Brawl at JW's Pub Lands One in Hospital with 'Serious Head Injury'

Coventry police broke up a fight early this morning at JW's Pub on Washington Street. One person suffered a serious head injury.

COVENTRY, RI—Police broke up a brawl early Wednesday morning at JW's Pub on Washington Street. Around 1:23 a.m., police said, several people called 9-1-1 and reported a "large disturbance" in the pub's parking at at 433 Washington St. They estimated 20 to 25 people were involved.

Coventry Police responded and also called on the Rhode Island State Police, West Warwick Police and West Greenwich Police for assistance. At the scene, officers found two men lying in the parking lot. The men appeared to have suffered facial injuries.

They were taken to Kent County Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. However, it was later determined one of the patients had sustained a "serious head injury," police said. He was transferred to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made, but police are still investigating.
