Updated: Cats Dropped at Taco Bell Drive-Thru, Police Say
A black Domestic shorthair and a black and white long-haired cat were in carriers. They're now in care of Coventry Animal Control.

COVENTRY, RI—Two cats huddle in fright in their litter boxes today, as they wait at Coventry Animal Control. The black Domestic Shorthair and a black and white long-haired cat were left in carriers on the grass by the Taco Bell drive-thru, according to a Coventry Police.

The people dropped the cats off and then ordered food before leaving, police said. Col. John S. MacDonald said their call pulled into the restaurantat 784 Tiogue Ave. shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Coventry Police Officers were able to view surveillance footage. Here's what they saw after the vehicle pulled into the drive-thru.
"Two people exit the vehicle. The two then open the rear door, remove the two carriers and place them on the grass. The two people then get back into their vehicle, order their food and leave.

They also posted the information on their Facebook page. Later Friday night, police also posted the video footage.
