'Chick Path' Helps Women Find Their Way In The Business World

Local Kerri Newman recently founded the website, Chick Path for women interested in starting a home business or looking to go into direct sales after she was unsatisfied with the information she was given when looking into the matter herself.

Newman says that she was hoping to earn a little bit of extra money for her daughter's college education through a direct sales at-home job, but when she began to do research, she was frustrated with the fact that there was not one website with all the information regarding the many different sales opportunities she could become involved in.

“There were so many different companies that I could sell with and there was too much information; I needed it all in one place,” Newman said. “Chick Path began after I decided that I should start a website for women to go to who are interested in learning about the many opportunities of home businesses or direct sales, or even to find out who they can buy products from.”

Launched on June 1, Chick Path has had 88,000 hits so far and there are 82 representatives from different direct sales companies on the website so far.

Rather than considering Chick Path to be a business, Newman likes to think of it more as a networking tool for women interested in sales.

“There are listings for many different companies and you can find the websites for representative from the companies along with a brief overview on what their average sales are like, if the company has sale quotas, and what their perks are when you sell for them,” Newman said. “The website is all about helping women find business opportunities and promote themselves in a cost effective way.”

Newman offers sales representatives from companies a free month of being listed on her site and then after that it’s $5 a month.

“It’s been really great what a response we have gotten from people so far,” Newman said. “It’s been surprising that people all over the United States and Canada have been interested in Chick Path and we’ve only been online for almost two months.”

Chick Path is hosting its first career fair on Saturday August 8 at the Rocky Hill Grange in East Greenwich from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Women will be able to gather career information from companies such as Mary Kay, Macaroni Kid, Tupperware, among others. There will be face painting, character greets, and balloon animals for the kids.
