CHS Track Teams Thrive at Invitational Meet

Members of the Coventry High School Boys' and Girls' Track teams performed well at the statewide Rick Schomp meet on Saturday.

 

On Saturday, May 4, athletes from the CHS Boys' and Girls' Track teams made their community proud with their performances in the 2013 Rick Schomp Track and Field Invitational held at Curtis Corner Middle School in South Kingstown.

The 19-event state meet qualifier is held annually in memory of Rick Schomp, Brown University athlete, dedicated teacher and coach at Chariho and South Kingstown schools.

Coventry High School athletes performed as follows:

  • Katie Cronin - 1st place, 100 meter
  • Lawrence Warwick - 2nd place, High Jump
  • Zach Szymkowicz - 10th place, 1,500 meter
  • Aaron Comrey - 1st place, Shot Put and 7th place, Discus
  • Sydney Dwyer - 17th, 100 meter hurdles
  • Gianna Rocchio - tied for 7th in the 400 meter 
  • Courtney Grant - 15th, 1,500 meter
  • Jess Bellows - 7th, 800 meter
  • Allie Bellows - 11th, 800 meter race 
  • Riley Mitchell - 11th place, Discus and 16th in Shotput 
  • Gianna Rocchio, Jess Bellows, Allie Bellows and Katie Cronin - 2nd, Girls' 4x400 relay
  • Tim Bowder, Tyler Hayes, Collin Naliki and Lawrence Warwick - 18th, Boys' 4x100 meter relay
