A Coventry police officer transporting a prisoner was struck by another car, causing serious damage, early Tuesday in West Warwick.
The crash happened near Providence and Wakefield Streets in that town at around 12:30 a.m. and the officer was not seriously injured.
West Warwick police said they’re investigating the crash and one driver was cited with a moving violation.

The Coventry cruiser, one of the department’s newer Dodge Charger pursuit vehicles, suffered front and side damage.
Police have not released many details about the incident, though nobody was seriously hurt.
