Coventry Man Facing Several Gun Charges

Coventry police say they searched the car of George Blais, 55, after noticing gun accessories partially covered by a blanket.

COVENTRY, RI — A Coventry man was arrested last month after being caught with several loaded guns and large capacity magazines, police said Monday.

George Blais, 55, was charged with four counts of license or permit required for carrying loaded weapons, three counts of owning prohibited large-capacity feeding devices, and several traffic violations.

Around 4:45 p.m., on Jan. 29, a Coventry police officer pulled over a white Cadillac Escalade driven by Blais.

According to police, the officer noticed weapon accessories partially covered by a blanket. Officers searched the vehicle and found four loaded guns, police said.

Blais was arraigned at Third District Court on Jan. 30, and bail was set at $5,000.
