Coventry Man, Former Day Care Owner, Found Guilty of Child Molestation

A former Coventry day care center operator has been found guilty of child molestation.

The verdict was reached by a Superior Court jury on Friday.

David L. Lyons, 68, of 59 Hopkins Hill Road in Coventry, was arrested in 2011 after a parent of a child reported that Lyons had molested the child at the day care center that Lyons and his wife operated out of their home.

During the investigation, police determined that Lyons had molested a total of three girls aged between 6 and 11-years-old.

The state Department of Children, Youth and Families revoked the day care license when the investigation began.
