Coventry Police Arrest Father Suspected Of Abusing Infant

The baby, 11 weeks old, is reported in stable condition at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

COVENTRY, RI—Police on Tuesday arrested a Coventry father suspected of harming his 11-week-0ld son. Anthony Dicicco, 28, was taken into custody at his home. He is being charged with First Degree Child Abuse. The baby is reported in stable condition at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

The hospital staff told police the child might have been a victim of abuse. According to Det. Lt. Matthew Blair, an investigation revealed the baby had suffered serious injuries, including head trauma, consistent with 'shaken baby syndrome.' The Coventry Police Detective Division, along with investigators from the state Department of Children, Youth and Families, interviewed the child’s parents, conducted a search of their home and worked closely with staff at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The father allegedly injured the child. He will be arraigned Wednesday at the Kent County Courthouse.
