Coventry Police Looking for Fake Bill Passers

The suspects targeted the Walmart in Coventry and drove away in a stolen Chevy Cruz.

Coventry police are trying to identify several suspects who passed fake $100 bills at the Walmart at Centre of New England Boulevard in Coventry recently.

Police said five suspects entered the store on April 27 and made small purchases with the phony $100 bills to collect real money as change.

The two white males and three white females all appeared to be 18- to 25-years-old and could be Hispanic, police said.

One of the males and two of the females passed phony bills. A second male returned an Xbox system to the service desk using a receipt from a Walmart in SUffern, N.Y.

A third female tried to buy 2 iPads using fake $100 bills but that transaction was declined when management noticed the bills were fake.

All five left the scene in a silver Chevy Cruz with Virginia license plate No. WTO-5970.

That car was reported stolen out of New York and belongs to Hertz Car Rentals.
