Coventry Teen Honored at Eagle Scout Ceremony
Ricky Audette was recognized for his achievements with a ceremony sponsored by the West Warwick Elks.
Coventry residentΒ Richard βRickyβ S. Audette,Β a newly indoctrinated Eagle Scout, was honored recently by the West Warwick Elks #1697 at a ceremony held at Christ The King Church in West Warwick.Β Β
The West Warwick Elks, represented by Celeste M. Cunningham, Past Exalted Ruler and current Esteemed Loyal Knight, presented Ricky with a Recognition and Certificate of Achievement Plaque along with a framed American Flag.Β
Ricky belongs to Troop 31 Crompton, lead by Scout Master Jim McLellan and is the son of proud parentsΒ Karen and Rick Audette of Coventry.Β

Only 4% of all Boy Scout attain the Eagle Scout level. To be eligible to become an Eagle Scout, a Scout needs to achieve 21 badges.Β Ricky achieved 30.Β Β
"The West Warwick Elks were proud to be a part of this very heartwarming and pristine Eagle Scout ceremony for Ricky," said memberΒ Gina Kingsborough.

A major step in becoming an Eagle is completing a project that will benefit the community as well demonstrate the scoutβs ability to design the project, display leadership, and fully execute it. Ricky decided that his project would be to update the landscaping of his elementary school, Blackrock Elementary School.Β HeΒ contacted the Hattoy family of Hattoy's Nursery, and after explaining his Eagle Scout project, received their donation ofΒ the raw materials needed for it. Β
Along with working hard to become an Eagle Scout andΒ attending college, Ricky also works at a local supermarket.Β Since age 14, he has been aΒ drummer in the band, The #1 Reason.Β
Ricky says scouting has taught him leadership skills as well confidence, strong character, and to show respect. HeΒ recently graduated from Coventry High School and is currently enrolled atΒ CCRI before transfering to URI in the future.
