Coventry Teacher Tapped for Lafayette Band Leadership Team
Maria DiNitto has been elected secretary of the band.

COVENTRY, RI -- Maria DiNitto, who teaches music in the public schools, has been elected secretary of the Lafayette Band.
Based in North Kingstown, the band draws its members from many communities in Southeast New England.
The repertoire is diverse. The band members play show tunes and marches, big band and swing, solo and ensemble pieces, and classical overtures. The group’s yearly schedule includes the Armed Forces Salute and Memorial Day performances in May, as well as weekly outdoor concerts in the summer, and performances at area nursing homes.
Look for them at the Wickford Festival of Lights concert in December.

The community concert band was founded more than 130 years ago and is one of the oldest ensembles in Rhode Island.
DiNitto will be the secretary for 2016-2017.

She teaches chorus, instrumental beginning band and general music to Pre-K through 5th grade students at Western Coventry Elementary School and Tiogue Elementary School.
