Detectives Search Coventry Home After 'Domestic Disturbance': Police

Coventry police have not released details, but news reports say a man was taken into custody and a woman was brought to the hospital.

COVENTRY, RI — Police blocked off a Coventry home for several hours on Thursday afternoon, following a disturbance.

Around 2:43 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 2,000th block of Flat River Road for a "domestic disturbance," Coventry police said. Several news outlets on scene reported the home being blocked off with yellow police tape and several detectives taking photos of evidence inside.

It's not yet clear what happened or if any injuries were reported. Coventry police said Rhode Island State Police and the attorney general's office are assisting with the investigation, but declined to release details about what happened.

"We are unable to comment further at this time," Coventry police said in a news release.

But according to NBC 10 News, one man was taken into custody, and a woman was taken to the hospital. The news outlet also reported that a small fire started in the bathroom, and the Coventry Fire Department responded to extinguish it.
