October is National Physical Therapy month. Held by the American Physical Therapy Association, it provides opportunities to create public awareness on the many safe health benefits of Physical Therapy.

America is in the midst of a pain medication epidemic, and Physical Therapy has been identified as part of the solution by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Surgeon General.

This year the American Physical Therapy Association has reached millions of people with a vital and empowering message about Physical Therapy for chronic pain through TV and radio public service announcements.

Local Physical Therapy group, Elite Physical Therapy, has been very active this month in the local communities to support health initiatives, and further educate Rhode Islanders on the many benefits of Physical Therapy for painful problems like back and neck conditions, sports injuries, and orthopedic conditions. Elite recently contributed in the 4th Annual Wellness and Health Fair at Navigant Credit Union in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Several local vendors were there to promote health and wellness as a lifestyle. Michael Nula, Elite Physical Therapy Owner and Doctor of Physical Therapy and Elite Doctor of Physical Therapy, Jamie Mey performed free posture and movement screenings for employees at the event.

“We want to help people understand all of their healthy options when it comes to living an active, healthy life. Physical Therapy offers an efficient, cost-effective, natural solution to many painful muscular and joint problems”, said Nula.

“On behalf of the Wellness Committee at Navigant Credit Union, we would like to thank each and every vendor that came to our 4th Annual Heath & Wellness Day. We received some great feedback from our employees and they found the information you provided very helpful and informative. Without your support and participation the event could not have been as successful as it was,” said Jeffery Lemos, Vice President of Human Resources at The Navigant Credit Union.
