CRANES FOR A CAUSE

A Fundraiser and Origami Workshop for Japan

 People everywhere want to help the Japanese victims suffering from the effects of the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, and the Girl Scouts of RI are doing all they can, too.  You can help them in a Fundraiser and Origami Workshop on Good Friday, April 22, from  5-8 p.m.  The suggested donation is $5.

 100% of all funds raised will go to the Girl Scouts of Japan, to be used for families affected by the disaster.

4th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 684 of Coventry invites you to join with other scouts, families, and residents at the Coventry Community Center on Rte. 117 on Good Friday to make origami cranes,  using  beautiful paper and simple instructions, to send a huge flock of hope to the Japanese.    For every crane made, OshKosh, Inc. will send an article of clothing to children in Japan.

There will be raffle baskets, baked goods for sale and prize drawings for those who make lots of cranes.

Cranes have long symbolized peace and hope in Japan.  Girl Scouts of Japan sent thousands of origami cranes to the United States after the attacks of 9/11, and this is an inexpensive but heartfelt way to return the favor in Japan’s hour of need Come join the fun!
