False Alarm Triggered Lockdown at Coventry High This Morning, Police Say
The school went into lockdown procedures after the alarm went off at 7:05 this morning.

COVENTRY, RI — Police said School Resource Ofc. Paul Pacheco was on the scene when a lockdown alarm sounded at Coventry High.
A few students in the building were put into lockdown, and police diverted buses en route to school.
All available police units responded.

Police later evacuated the youngsters in the building and searched all the rooms.
Officers cleared the building by 7:40 a.m., and the students returned to classes.

The alarm was deemed accidental, but school officials will investigate the reason it went off. There will be a meeting later today with police to evaluate the response.
