Friday Beach Update: Conimicut Point Closed To Swimming
Six beaches and swimming areas are currently closed to swimming across Rhode Island.
COVENTRY, RI — Another day, another beach closure. On Friday morning, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced the closure of Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick, bringing the total to seven headed into the weekend.
As of Friday, the following beaches are closed to swimming:
- Briar Point Beach, Coventry
- Burlingame Picnic Area, Charlestown
- Camp Watchaug, Charlestown
- Conimicut Point Beach, Warwick
- Easton's Beach, Newport
- Kent County YMCA Upper and Lower Ponds, Warwick
When a beach is closed, the department tests the water daily until the bacteria returns to safe levels. For more information, call the prerecorded beach line at 401-222-2751 or visit the beach closures website.
