Give A Pint, Get A Pint At The RI Blood Center This Month

Anyone who donates a pint of blood to the Rhode Island Blood Center this August will receive a pint in return, that is, a pint of beer. The organization has teamed up with several local breweries, offering the promotion at all six donation centers around the state.

Donors over the age of 21 who give blood or platelets will receive a coupon for a free beer at The Guild, Foolproof Brewing, Proclamation Ale, Whalers Brewing, Grey Sail or Newport Storm. Those who aren't legally able to drink won't be left out in the cold though, as all donors who give during August will also be entered to win a pair of New England Patriots Home Opener tickets on September 8.

When it comes to redeeming your coupon, wait at least 24 hours after donation before heading to one of the breweries, the amount of time the American Red Cross recommends waiting before drinking any alcohol.

There are six donation centers in Rhode Island. Appointments can be made in advance on the organization's website.
