Halloween Directory Includes Best Local Addresses

COVENTRY, RI — So, in Newport, it's the MacDonald's house on Ellery Street.

But in Coventry, it's Wood Estates. The whole neighborhood received a thumbs up from MapMuse, which has, according to its press release, "scoured the Internet to find great Halloween displays across America."

Coventry is on the Halloween map, along with a handful of other Rhode Island locations.

The company liked Wood Estates because the houses are close together, hence easy pickings for trick or treaters. Also, the neighborhood is safe, and the people give premium candy.

MapMuse also liked Westwood Estates.

But only a dozen or so locations in Rhode Island made the cut.

According to Mike Pilon, of MapMuse, this year's list was "just a start, and we are hoping that it becomes as popular as our Christmas lights display listings and maps by having people contribute information about great Halloween decorations that they know about as well."

Besides the houses for gawking, MapMuse has lists about Haunted Houses, Ghost Tours, Zombie Walks, Halloween Costume Shops and more, Pilon said.
