Hydrant Flushing Underway In Kent County

Residents could experience temporary water discoloration and low water pressure.

COVENTRY, RI — Hydrant flushing is underway across Kent County and is set to continue until early November. During that time, residents in parts of Coventry, Cranston, Scituate, Warwick and West Warwick could experience lower water pressure or discolored water, the Kent County Water Authority said.

The flushing is needed to remove a build-up of sediments and mineral deposits in water mains, the authority said in a release.

Residents who experience discolored water are encouraged to run cold water for a few minutes to clear the water out of the pipes. Any low water pressure is only temporary.
