IGT to Close Coventry Plant; 44 Workers Laid Off
IGT, the combined company resulting from the merger with GTECH, is moving operations of the plant to Reno, Nev.

Forty-four employees were notified Wednesday that their jobs at the IGT’s Coventry manufacturing plant on Main Street have been eliminated and the plant will be closing.
Some workers will be offered jobs in Reno, Nev., where the company plans to consolidate its manufacturing.
The remaining workers will be transferred to IGT’s facility in West Greenwich.

GTECH and IGT merged in a $4.7 billion deal earlier this month.

The 142,000 square foot site is one of a number of closings as a result of the merger.
IGT said it will still employ about 1,000 people in Rhode Island.
