5th Annual
Lori Johnson Music Festival To
Raise Funds for Cancer Society
(Coventry, RI)….The 5th Annual Lori Johnson
Music Festival will be held on Sunday, March 2nd from 3-7 p.m. at the Mishnock Barn, 200
Mishnock Road, West Greenwich, RI.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and all proceeds benefit
the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life.
This event honors the memory of Coventry resident Lori
Johnson and is family-friendly, featuring great live bands, face painting, raffles,
food items for sale, as well as numerous items to purchase, courtesy of several
Relay for Life teams.
The
Music Festival includes the Jesse Liam
Band, The All Bros, and Not for
Nuthin, with country line dancing in between each set. “The
All Bros” consists of 5 talented brothers (and their dad, Mishnock
Barn owner Dan Albro) who have been a draw for the younger crowd. Not for Nuthin’ is a group of musicians
that includes both the nephew and brother-in-law of the namesake of this
fundraiser. Collectively, they have been
performing in this area for about 30 years and want to give back to the
community.

Concert
organizer, and “LJ’s Gang” Relay for Life team captain, Pat Johnson, a Coventry
resident, is proud of the fact that many different Relay teams come together
for this event for a true team effort. “The
unique part of the music festival is that we invite other Relay teams to have
their fundraiser IN our fundraiser!” she says. “This event is not just about
raising funds. It is about spending time with people who may be grieving or
hugging a survivor and telling them, ‘We are doing this for you.’ We invite the
American Cancer Society to have a table at the event as well. One of the
biggest and most important reasons we do this is to help to raise awareness.” She adds that the big pink breast cancer
awareness fire truck will also be at the event again this year.
Pat Johnson has been raising funds in her sister-in-law
Lori’s memory since she passed away five years ago. She has been a top fundraiser for Relay for
Life and has spoken at conferences about her fundraising philosophy and
techniques.
