Man Who Police Say Molested Child In Coventry, West Greenwich Arrested

Police say Robert Leonard, 81, of West Greenwich, molested the same child at locations in West Greenwich and Coventry over a two-year span.

COVENTRY, RI — A West Greenwich man was arrested earlier this month after police in Coventry and West Greenwich said he molested one child in both towns.

The arrest on Aug. 5, came after a joint investigation involving both town's police departments.

Robert Leonard, 81, was charged in West Greenwich with first-degree child molestation, second-degree child molestation, and indecent exposure. Coventry police charged Leonard with second-degree child molestation.

According to police, Leonard molested the same child in West Greenwich and Coventry across two years.

Leonard was arraigned in Kent County District Court last Monday. He is being held without bail at the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston until a status hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
