NBC News Cameraman Free of Ebola, Will Return to Rhode Island

Ashoka Mukpo, the Providence journalist who contracted Ebola, is now free of the virus and will return to Rhode Island.


Mukpo has been treated at the Nebraska Medical Center, which announced he will be allowed to return home Wednesday.

“I’m so lucky,” he tweeted. “Wish everyone who got sick could feel this.”

Mukpo, 33, was working as a freelance cameraman for NBC News in Liberia when he contracted Ebola. He was treated with brincidofovir, an experimental drug, according to USA Today.
