Obituary: Ann. C. (Pompei) Stratton, 69, Educator

Ann. C. (Pompei) Stratton, 69, of Coventry, passed unexpectedly at Kent Hospital on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Phillip L. and Florence (Petrarca) Pompei.

Ann had been an educator for over 30 years, most recently as the Principal of Warwick Neck Elementary School before retiring. Ann previously served as Elementary School Principal in the Westerly and Woonsocket Public School Systems. Ann earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Rhode Island College, a Master’s Degree in Education from Providence College and a Certificate of Advanced Studies from Rhode Island College.

Ann was an avid golfer and she enjoyed shopping. However, her greatest achievement was raising her two daughters Amy Elizabeth Stratton, Esq. of East Greenwich and Jill Ann Bailey, also an educator in the Warwick Public School System, and her husband Robert Bailey of Coventry. Ann was the proud grandmother of Camryn and Allison Bailey. She was the sister of Shirley M. (Dennis) Sweet of Coventry. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Alicia Dawe and her beloved nephew, Christian Sweet, as well as many additional cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in SS John & Paul Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours are Friday 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Development Office, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd Fl., Boston, MA 02116, Attn: Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, will be appreciated.
