Obituary: Megan Anne (Alexion) Mello, 32, Coventry High School Graduate
Megan was an English teacher at Aldrich Junior High School in Warwick.

Megan Anne (Alexion) Mello, 32, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Stephen R. Mello. They were married this past New Year’s Eve. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of Anne V. (Charpentier) Pereira and her husband David of Coventry, and Robert P. Alexion of Dighton, MA.
Megan was an English teacher at Aldrich Junior High School in Warwick.

She was a graduate of Coventry High School Class of 2000. Megan taught in the Warwick School System since graduating from the University of Rhode Island in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Education from Rhode Island College in 2011. Megan had been a competitive cheerleader for most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her sister Mackenzie.
Megan was the sister of Michaela E. Horta and her husband Bernard, and Mackenzie Taylor Pereira all of Coventry. She was the daughter-in-law of George and Cheryl Clark of West Warwick and Arthur Mello and his wife Laurie of Nottingham, NH. Megan also leaves her step grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Pereira of Warwick and her puppy Charlie.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117) Coventry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Special Olympics Rhode Island, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917 (www.specialolympicsri.org) will be appreciated.
