Parking Ban in Coventry Ends at Midnight

A parking ban that went into effect early Saturday morning ends tonight at midnight as the last round of precipitation moves away from Rhode Island.

Skies should be clearing up overnight and Sunday will bring sunshine and temperatures above freezing.

Most of Rhode Island saw between one and three inches of snow early Saturday morning before a changeover to rain and sleet, causing what snow did fall to become heavy.

The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency is warning residents to be careful when shoveling the heavy snow. Take frequent breaks to avoid overexertion.

The wintry mix should change back to snow tonight but little or no accumulation is expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature on Sunday is expected to be 36 degrees.

A Winter Weather Advisory issued for the area will expire at 7 p.m. tonight.

Brace yourself for extremely cold temperatures next week. The low temperature on Sunday night will be in the teens and it will struggle to get out of the 20s during the day on Monday.
