Pellet Gun Assault In Coventry Leaves One Seriously Injured

A man was shot in the eye with a pellet gun and is in serious condition at Rhode island Hospital, police said.

COVENTRY, RI — An assault in a Murray Street apartment on Wednesday sent one man to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, Coventry police said. Officers responded to the home around 5:16 p.m. and found one victim wounded from a pellet gun attack. One pellet lodged in his eye. He was hit several times in the neck and eye.

Investigators identified a suspect, David Eccleston, 22, of West Warwick. With assistance from West Warwick police, Coventry officers found Eccleston on Providence Street and arrested him.

He is being charged with several offenses, including Felony Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Eccleston will be arraigned today.
