Famous in his day, Perez Peck has been largely overlooked in history for his role as the master mechanic who was able to build the machinery that powered the early mills in RI, Connecticut and Massachusetts, despite the secrecy that surrounded the design and operation of these machines. A leading citizen of Coventry, Peck was an ardent abolitionist, who lost his daughter to the cause. Come and learn more about this dynamic and fascinating man who altered the course of history through his own achievements, and through training the next generation of mechanics powering the Industrial Revolution. The event is free of charge but donations to support the Paine House Tavern Project are welcome.
