1. Make sure you dress warm. Wear a hat, gloves and boots. Fingerless gloves are helpful so you have more control over your camera equipment.
2. Use a fast shutter speed for falling snow. 1/250th of a second is a good place to start to freeze falling snow.
3. You need to overexpose for snow. Light meters will read the snow and darken the exposure. Due to this you need to overexpose by 1 or 2 F-Stops. This way your snow will look beautifully white.

4. Try shooting in black and white. Artistically black and white photography with a scenery of snow looks amazing.
5. Post production utilize Photoshop by using Highlights and Shadows. This took will help brighten the snow and give you details in the shadows.
