Automobile Larcenies

  • On April 28 at approximately 7 a.m., an officer responded to a Wood Cove Dr. home after a resident stated that her husband's vehicle had been entered overnight and his Onyx satellite radio worth $200 was missing. She stated that the doors to the vehicle had been left unlocked and there was no damage to the vehicle.

The officer also spoke with the resident's daughter who stated that her Garmin Nuvi GPS unit and $75 worth of assorted gift cards had been taken from her car. She also stated that the car doors had not been locked.

Both women said they would like to press charges if the suspects are found.

  • An officer responded to a Wisteria Dr. home on April 28 at 7:45 a.m. to investigate a reported larceny from a motor vehicle. The resident stated that his vehicle was entered between 7:30 p.m. on April 27 and 7 a.m. on April 28. He mentioned that the vehicle was left unlocked and his Garmin Nuvi 255 WT GPS unit ($170) was taken. He also said that his iPhone charger ($30), Jansport backpack ($50), 2006 Jetta key ($50) and Nike athletic pants ($30) were taken as well.

The victim did not hear anything suspicious but his brother said he woke up around 3 a.m. and saw three young males walking down the street wearing dark clothing and holding flashlights. He was unable to identify the subject's faces and did not see them enter any vehicles so he returned to bed. The victim would like to press charges if the suspects are found.

Copper Theft

  • On May 5 at 10:30 a.m., an officer responded to a vacant Lionel Ave. to investigate a reported breaking and entering. The inspector explained that the building is currently owned by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and he is responsible for checking the property every few weeks. 

During his inspection, he discovered that one of the basement windows at the rear of the property was broken. Once inside, he realized that someone had entered the property and stolen a large amount of copper pipes from the basement and the boiler, valued at $1,500.

  • On May 7 at 7 p.m., an officer responded to  on Tiogue Ave. to investigate a larceny. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the owner who had attempted to turn on the central air conditioning for the first time this season at 5:30 p.m. but found it was not working. He contacted a repair service who arrived and advised him that the copper wires inside the four units had been cut out and stolen. The damage was valued at $16,000. 

He said he has no idea who stole the copper and that it could have happened between October 1, 2010 and that morning. He would like to press charges if the suspects are found.
