Rhode Island One of the Least Charitable States, Survey Finds
The Ocean State was ranked No. 8 on a list of the least charitable states.

Rhode Islanders are some of the least charitable people in the country, a new survey has found.
The personal finance service WalletHub ranked each state based on factors like the volunteer rate and percentage of income devoted to charity. Rhode Island was ranked the eighth-least charitable state in the country. The Ocean State was in the bottom five states in categories like percentage of donated income, percentage of people who have donated time, and median charitable contribution.
The U.S. this year was named the most benevolent country in the World Giving Index, which found Americans donate an average of $2,974 a year. Utah was ranked the most charitable state in WalletHub’s survey.
