RI Democrats Looking for Interns
Interns are needed for duties like policy research, writing, field work and get out the vote operations.

Rhode Island Democratic Party Chair, Rep. Joseph M. McNamara, is inviting interested college and graduate students to become interns in their local office, in preparation for a busy 2016 Election cycle, which includes Presidential, congressional and state and local races. He is also inviting interested Democrats to serve as members of the: Women, Youth, African American, Latino, People with Disabilities, Asian American and Pacific Islanders, and Native American caucuses. These caucuses are being formed and updated to comply with the Democratic National Committee election plans.
“The Democratic Party was built on the strength of women and men from many backgrounds and interests,” said Chair Joseph M. McNamara, “and on a shared commitment to improve the quality of life of all people and the strength and vibrancy of this nation, its military and its economy.
“Today, we are looking for a new generation of volunteers – young and old – to help craft the ideals and platform for our Party and its officials at all levels of government,” he said.

The interns will assume responsibilities depending upon their areas of interest and expertise. Typical duties include policy research and writing, field work and GOTV (Get Out The Vote,) event planning, media relations and social media, and assisting in campaigns for local/state and federal office. The candidate’s should possess a high school degree and some college or graduate school education; be willing to commit to several hours of volunteer work weekly, be able to work independently with some supervision and be a registered voter. One or more recommendations are invited.
The role of the caucuses is to meet regularly, discuss the role and opportunities of constituency groups, identify potential candidates for local and state offices and help the Party counsel and train candidates.
