RI Drinkers Look to the Top Shelf

If you're out for a night on the town in Rhode Island, chances are when you belly up to the bar, you're slammin a Patron and chasing it with a Sam.

So says Blowfish for Hangovers, which produces caffeine and aspirin-based hangover tablets. Whether the product works or not, their survey has some amusing results. 

According to the company, they surveyed drinkers throughout the US, asking residents to pick from a menu of 18 beers (write-ins were allowed). They then mapped the results for the nation. 

For beer, Sam Adams swept New England, and, interestingly, New Jersey and Illinois. Blue Moon carried the most states, though Bud Light and Yuengling also made a strong showing. Corona snuck in there in California.

If you're not a beer drinker, chances are your favorite mixed drink is a rum and Coke. Most states went with either the R&C or a Margarita, according to the map.
 
When it comes to shots, Rhode Island drinkers look to the top shelf, preferring Patron tequila to all other contenders (finishing just ahead of a Jagerbomb). In fact, Rhode Islanders order Patron more than drinkers in any other state — and certainly more than nearby Massachusetts, where the winner is ... a Lemon Drop?
