RIDOT: Laurel Ave. Bridge June Construction Update

From June 3 - June 16, 2012 the following operations will be in effect:

 

Week of June 3

Daytime: Construction and dewatering continues for the center section splash pad. Begin excavation and grading for the center splash pad. Continue the micro‐pile installation for the south abutment. The fabrication of the steel beams continues.

Week of June 10

Daytime: Complete the micro‐pile installation and begin construction for the south abutment pile cap. Construction continues on the center splash pad by installing forms, installing reinforcing steel and placing concrete. The fabrication of the steel beams continues.

• The design‐build team of Cardi Corp‐CME engineers will continue with shop drawing development and submittals, along with material procurements.

Looking Ahead (Mid‐June/July)

Design: Prepare and submit drawings for the structural steel, steel erection, bridge deck elements, precast elements and form work.

Construction: Continue construction of the south pile cap, abutment, bearing pad and backwall. Complete the dewatering and construction of the center section splash pad and stream bed. Commence dewatering and construction operations for the north abutment splash pad, training wall and micro‐pile installation.

During construction, motorists and neighbors on Washington Street (Rte. 117), Pilgrim Avenue, and Laurel Avenue, and on the Coventry Greenway, should expect to see activity at any time. Noise may be experienced at times. Work on the bridge will be confined to the sections of Laurel Avenue already closed to through traffic.
